CATECHISM SCHOOL NEWS:

Dear Parishioners,

On Mother's Day an Ice Cream Social was sponsored by the Catechism School students in honor of Mother's Day. Many thanks to the head 'soda jerk' Lisa Pollakis assisted by Catechism School Student Demetri Andreadis. The Catechism School students also gave all mothers a carnation. The students who presented the flowers to the mothers were Elena Andreadis and Alexis Mays. Everyone had an enjoyable time.

May 21, 2006 was the last day of Catechism School. Father Stelio presented each student with a certificate and a cross bookmark handmade by Andy Christos of. Victoria. Demetri and Sophia Sanchez had perfect attendance and received a perfect attendance pin and a gift. We would like to thank the parents who brought their children to Church each Sunday during the year. Many thanks to the teachers: Mrs. Soula Piperis, Miss Sophia Sissamis, Mrs JoAnn Talarantas, Mrs. Maria Papakostas, Mrs. Karen Karagas, Mrs. Peggy Paraskevas, Mrs. Maria Sissamis, Mrs. Anna Maragakis, and Mrs. Natalie Rogen. Substitute teachers were Mrs. Constance PIQmarity Sanchez, Mrs. Alexia Maragakis, and Miss Olga Plomarity. We thank all that helped.

Also on Sunday, May 21, 2006, children of the Catechism School and this year's high school graduates were honored. Demetri Karagas graduated from Calallen High School. Olivia Chriss graduated from Ray High School and John Koutroupis graduated from Ray High School. Each was presented with a Connect Kit from Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF). The kit included: a Diptych Selfstanding Icon (4x6 in. ea.), The New Testament (NRSV), The Orthodox Way by His Grace Bishop Kallistos Ware, My Orthodox Prayer Book, Finding One's Calling in Life by Fr. Thomas Hopko, an OCF Water Bottle, an OCF Fridge Magnet, Gourmet Chocolate Delight Candied Popcorn, information on using the Kit, an OCF Brochure and much more. Congratulations!

I wish everyone a safe and happy summer time and look forward to next year's Catechism School which will begin on Sunday, September 10, 2006.

Sincerely,
Olga Plomarity,
Catechism School Superintendent
