MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL PRESIDENT:

Dear Parishioners:

The year is half over. The schools are in session. Summer is almost over, Labor Day is around the corner. The year is quickly disappearing. We must start and catch up, the lost time is waiting. The Greek Festival is almost here.

In past years I enjoyed savoring the aroma of the pastries baking in the oven. But this year the volunteers are invisible. Where are you? You faithful ones we all need you. You who have been the backbone of doing those needed things. Materialize in the work places.

Our community room is silent. Hurry you dance instructors. Play those Greek melodies while the young ones practice and all the aromas combine to revive that spirit of enthusiasm for everyone! You have responsibility and charge to organize and send out those who need to start things rolling. The festival is only seven weeks away with so much yet to do

You don't know what you need to do? See me. There's also the letters to solicit door and raffle prizes, printing, advertising, Do not allow inertia to slow down your efforts to make the festival the great success we expect through the intercession of Our Savior and Holy Mother. There is no time for anyone to waste!

You know I forgot to mention in my last newsletter that summer vacation and travels cause the pledges to sometimes be overlooked without intention, due of course to getting things ready to relax for a week or two. Leave the house and errands to be taken care of. Father covered this topic very succinctly. Therefore I will only mention to please send your pledges in. They will be greatly appreciated.

Ms. Olga Plomarity and Bill Mays and family are keeping the website current. I can hardly wait to see the dance practice and preparations for the festival. Too bad TV has not found a way for the aroma of baking and cooking preparations. See you all in Our Spiritual Home.

Horacio Ortiz,
Parish Council President
