St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL PRESIDENT:

Dear Parishioners:

We have just been informed that Father Stelios's father fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday morning, November 26, 2006 in North Carolina. We extend our deepest sympathy to Father and we ask that we all keep Father Stelios in our prayers in his time of sorrow. The General Assembly, which was necessarily postponed, will be held after Father returns to Corpus Christi. The tentative date is Sunday, December 10, but everyone will be duly notified.

As I was reviewing the monthly and weekly bulletins for this year I discovered how much history we have witnessed in our Parish. Surely there were many happy moments for each of us - births, chrismations, marriages; but also remembrances of those who sadly fell asleep. However, my happiest moment was when I saw the smiles on our children’s faces as they successfully completed their Catechism Classes and witnessed the eagerness with which our youth performed at our Greek Festival.

I am very grateful for the outline of the Greek Orthodox Divine Liturgy that was published in the October and November monthly bulletins. I am sure many parishioners welcomed the outline which helped to give them a better understanding of our Divine Liturgy.

We as a Parish have much to be thankful for, both personally and parish-wise. So many things have gone right in our Parish this year, even up to the last minute. Despite our concerns, we have been blessed with those faithful parishioners who always surface to insure that “all is well”. May our Savior and Holy Mother continue to bless you.

The new Parish Council is scheduling a New Year of planned fund raising activities. Therefore many of you will be sought out to participate.

Thank you for allowing our current Parish Council to serve you. We wish you all a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,

Horacio Ortiz

Parish Council President
