Christi is Risen!

We hope that everyone had a Blessed Holy Week and Easter.  Thank you to everyone who attended the Palm Sunday luncheon.

The National Philoptochos will be having a fund raising event in May for the benefit of HIV/AIDS victims especially those in Africa.  Each chapter was asked to either have a walk-a-thon or hold a fund raising event.  Our chapter chose to donate the net profit raised from the Palm Sunday luncheon.  We raised $455.00.  Thank you to everyone for making the event a successful one.

Our biennial Metropolis Philoptochos Conference will be held in Dallas, Texas on May 15-16, 2009.  Our chapter voted to send the chapter president as the its delegate. 

At our next meeting, on May 3, 2009, our chapter will be holding elections for the Philoptochos board.  The two-year term will run from September 1, 2009  to August 31, 2011. 

The officers and members wish to express our sadness upon learning that Dora Thomas and her family will be leaving the parish in mid-May.  Dora, along with her husband Tom and son Christian, will be moving to Dallas, Texas to be closer to their family.  At our April meeting Dora was presented with a Cross as a sign of our love and appreciation for all that she did for our chapter.  After the meeting, the members held a farewell luncheon in Dora's honor at the City Diner restaurant.  We will be losing a most dedicated parishioner, Parish Council Member and Philoptochos member and officer.  We will miss them and we wish them "God Speed."
