AUGUST 2007 WEDDING: Miss Athena Collins and John David Cannon were married on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church with the Reverend Stelios Sitaras officiating. Sponsor was Miss Olga Plomarity. Mr. & Mrs. Randall Vogel are the parents of Athena, and Mr. & Mrs. John Melvin Cannon are the parents of John. A lovely luncheon reception was held at “Niko’s Restaurant” following the wedding. The couple will make their home in San Antonio, Texas. Congratulations! TRAVELERS: On July 10, 2007, Father Stelios Sitaras and Parish Council Treasurer Harry G. Plomarity traveled to Dallas, Texas to attend a Denver Metropolis Finance meeting called by His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah. On June 23rd, Ted and Tracy Andreadis and their two children , Demetri and Elena left on a vacation to Cape Cod and Boston where they visited friends and relatives. They returned home July 1st. We hope their trip was enjoyable.Demetri and Elena then left on July 8th for Kerville, Texas to attend summer camp. They returned home on July 28th. Father Stelios Sitaras, together with his two daughters, left on July 11th, 2007 for a vacation to North Carolina where they visisted his mother and other relatives. Father Stelios returned to Corpus Christi on July 20th. We hope their trip was enjoyable. Dora and Tom Hudson left July 5, 2007 for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for a two week visit with her daughter, Natalie and her husband, and their two grandchildren. We hope their trip was enjoyable. On July 11th, Natalie Rogen and her daughter, Natasha, left for San Rafael , California to visit Natalie’s mother. They plan to spend a month there before returning home in August. We hope they have a pleasant visit in California. On July 6, 2007 Harry and Thalia Plomarity and their daughter, Olga, traveled with their other daughter Constance and her husband Gilbert Sanchez and their two children, Demetri and Sophia to Shreveport, Louisiana to help celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Thalia’s brother and his wife, Dr. & Mrs. Steve Kirkikis. The celebration was truly a family reunion where Thalia had a chance to visit with all the members of her family.On Sunday, they attended Divine Liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church where they had an opportunity to visit with many old friends. They returned home on Monday, July 9th. Bill and Carol Mays and their two children left on July 9th for Durango, Colorado on a week’s vacation. They returned home on July 14, 2007. We hope their motor trip was enjoyable. ARTOCLASIA: On July 1st , 2007, Artoclasia Services were held for the health of the family of Mrs. Penelope Lividitis. On Monday, August 6. 2007, the feast day of “The Transfiguration of Our Lord”, Artoclasia Services will be held for the health of the family of Mrs. Sophia Piperis. On Wednesday, August 15. 2007, the Feast day of the “ Koimisis (Repose) of the Theotokos”, Artoclasia Services will be held for the health of the family of Mrs. Penelope Livaditis. SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT:Alexis Mays, daughter of Bill and Carol Mays, was nominated and accepted to Del Mar College Honor’s list for Spring 2007. Students are included in the list if they have a 3.5 or better grade point average. This GPA also qualifies her for nomination to the National Dean’s list, a compilation of national scholars. Alexis is majoring in “internet and multimedia design”. Congratulations! GRADUATION FROM CULINARY ACADEMY:George Zannaras will graduate on August 15, 2007, from “Texas Culinary Academy Le Cordon Bleu” in Austin, Texas. The academy is affiliated with the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. George is the son of Tony and Viki Zannaras, the brother of Mariam Zannaras and the grandson of Mrs. Mariam Psimaris. Our congratulations to George. We wish him the best in his culinary career. NEW RESTAURANT:In July, Mike and Maria Chryssos and Theodore Chryssos opened a new restaurant, “El Capitale Steakhouse “ in Alice, Texas. The new restaurant is located at 711 E. Main Street, Alice, Texas and the telephone number is (361) 896-0664. Best of luck! HOSPITALIZED: Mitchell Zampikos was hospitalized at Christos Spohn-Shoreline during the past month, but is now recuperating at home. Let’s keep him in our prayers! Mrs. Tasia Paul was also hospitalized this past month at Doctor’s Regional Hospital but has now returned home. Let’s keep her in our prayers! 2007 PLEDGES AS OF JUNE 30, 2007: In the July bulletin we ran a list of parishioners who paid their 2007 pledges or have made payments on their pledges as of June 30, 2007.
